What I did
- Data prep: renamed fields, set aliases and geographic roles, and pivoted and split columns
- Segmentation with groups, sets (top selling vs. bottom profit), and hierarchies
- Calculated fields, table calculations (YoY growth, rank, LOOKUP for order growth), and LOD expressions
- Maps, density maps, histograms, box plots, reference lines, and distribution bands
- A 2-year forecast and an interactive dashboard with region filters
Key insights
- Total sales reached $1.11M, up about 5.6x from 2020 to 2021. Q4 2021 was the highest quarter.
- West and Northeast contributed 54% of sales. Southeast was the smallest at 14%.
- Foot Locker and West Gear held 52% of sales across the 6 retailers.
- Running Shoes, Pants, and Bags sold best. Blazers, Sweatshirts, and Jackets each came in under $6K and are worth reviewing.
- Marketing budget correlated strongly with sales (r ≈ 0.79).
- 424 of 440 customers were acquired in 2020 and made up 97% of sales, so 2021 growth came from existing customers buying more.
